Old Babylonian

The city of Babylon achieve hegemony in Mesopotamia in the sixth ruler, Hammurabi (fl. ca. 1728-1686 BC (short)). It 'been a very effective leadership of the bureaucracy, taxes and the central government in shape, and stability in the region after the period of turbulence, which became the central power in Mesopotamia. One of the most important works of this "first dynasty of Babylon," as historians called him the origin, has been the creation of one law. Order did this of Hammurabi, after the expulsion of the Elamites and the settlement of his kingdom. In 1901, a copy of the Code of Hammurabi, in a wake of J. Morgan V. Scheil at Susa, where it was discovered later sacked. These copies is in the Louvre.

Mesopotamia, but had no limits, acceptable natural, making them vulnerable to attack. Trade and culture to flourish for almost 150 years until the reign of 15 years in the first dynasty, Ammisaduqa Ditan Samsu-child.
